Call for Entries to 2016 3D Printing Competitions
Singapore’s premier 3D printing competitions are back – and ready to accept entries. “We are excited to launch the 4th Singapore International 3D Printing Competitions with the themes of Eyewear and Shoes!” says Prof Chua Chee Kai on behalf of the organizers the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing, SC3DP.
Launched in 2013 to promote awareness and adoption of 3D printing technologies, the competition pays out a top prize of S$10,000 in the Open Category, and S$5,000 each for tertiary and secondary student categories respectively.
In this competition, aspiring designers are challenged to 3D print disruptive, breakthrough and functional eyewear. They may also submit entries for fashionable and functional shoe designs that can be snazzy, comfortable and form-fitting. All designs must be entirely 3D printable. The deadline for submissions is 8 April 2016.
Prof Chua concludes: “As 3D printing gets more accessible, it will be interesting to see the implementation of technology into a product that is functional and wearable.”
